welcome to the world of breastfeeding ... Any new mom either first time moms or an experienced mom struggles when it comes to baby & nursing. but why? Because every baby is unique and every nursing experience is unique as the baby itself. Same mom who had successfully breastfed her first baby may not be successful with a second or third or vice versa. Breastfeeding is a natural process for baby & mom but takes lots of practise, patience, stamina, confidence & mental stability.
physical factors
psychological factors
environmental factors
others
Just wondering why I have listed them, they really play a vital role in between the mom & baby.
Physical factors: for lots of mothers breast milk will start secreting when their contractions (mild) kicks-in. For some it happens after delivery when the baby settles in with the mother. Few will have to jump-start with extra effort like actually provoking the baby to suck.
Psychological factors: Based on the mothers mood, emotions differ the happiest nursing experience. It adverses with post-partum depression. Even being over excited and happy is not good for feeding so play neutral always. This is tough especially for the first timers but try to achieve a naturally calm mentality for along term joy.
Environmental factors: The place where you are settling with your baby matters a lot. the house, weather etc. If you are having a baby in peak winter make sure to take adequate liquids. Also check for the house with out any clutter and keep all baby stuff handy. Most of all after one month never allow your baby for thumb sucking which creates nipple confusion in the baby eventually to drop down nursing.
Others:
Stress can bring a detrimental effect on nursing like if you have any financial, medical, or other factors influencing stress. So be aware of & plan well ahead so as to be free of any crisis situation.
